For many years, I took care of my sweet, beloved mother, who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease at the age of 54. She died in August 2007 at the age of 63.
So that I wouldn't keep forgetting the funny and sweet things that she said, I started taking notes, and subsequently put together a book, For the Love of Mom: A Daughter's Blessings and Trials with Alzheimer's Disease. It is for sale here: http://www.lulu.com/shop/deborah-l-risberg/for-the-love-of-mom-a-daughters-memoir-of-daily-blessings-and-trials-with-alzheimers-disease/paperback/product-14300203.html
I also dedicated a gallery show to her in November 2011 at the (AC)2 Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It encompasses her journey over the years in pictures, 124 to be exact, some of them very large, which added a huge touch of realism. It also shows some of my journey through paintings. See the video of the exhibition here.
